When thinking about spas, we usually envision someplace to relax, pamper ourselves, and get away from the hustle and bustle of life. It’s a place where we can go to forget our problems. But in my experience, going to a temporal spa only provides temporary relief. Therefore, I recommend God’s Spa, where we can find a lifetime of peace, rest, and relaxation!
As women, we face daily trials and tribulations that can be financial, relational, and spiritual. Often, we feel the weight of the world on our shoulders. This can eventually impact sleep, health, and our family relationships. God did not design women to bear this weight. That is why in scripture, He says: “Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved” (Psalms 55:22 KJV). Many times in today’s society, we try to do things on our own. We are afraid that if we ask for help, others will think we are weak. Yet, Matthew 11:28 says: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (KJV).
In order to feel comfortable about giving over our troubles to the Lord, we have to trust Him. He is willing and able to do all we ask of Him. Proverbs 3:5-6 says: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (KJV). Second Samuel 22:33 also encourages us: “God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect” (KJV). When we are truly trusting God, we have the faith that He will sustain, guide, direct, and provide for us.
TRUST + FAITH = PEACE & REST
I’ve found attending church to be an integral part of finding peace and rest in my own life as well. As I enter the sanctuary and begin singing songs of worship and meditating on God, it’s as if the presence of the Lord sweeps in and calms my spirit. He breathes life into me; it is like aromatherapy to my spirit.
The same is true of meditating on God’s Word and particular scriptures of encouragement, such as Exodus 33:14, which says: “And he said, ‘My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest’” (NKJV). If you’re experiencing financial issues, meditating on the scripture: “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19 KJV), will cause you to relax. Your muscles won’t be tight and strained, and you will feel as if you just came out of a spa. The yoke and burden will be lifted. My favorite scripture for the “massage” that only God can provide is Isaiah 10:27: “And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing” (KJV). God’s massage will be the best massage you’ve ever had!
I encourage you today not to worry or fret, because God has everything in your life under control. You just need to trust Him. Have faith that He is your provider and the author and finisher of your life’s story. Once you trust Him, you’ll find the peace, rest, strength, and encouragement to conquer anything that you face in life. Philippians 4:6-7 says: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (NKJV).
The end goal of going to God’s Spa is to leave with rest, peace, and the joy of the Lord. Psalms 16:11 says: “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore” (KJV). When I’ve seen women put these principles into practice, I’ve seen them happy, joyful, and even looking younger. Experiencing God’s peace and rest can be age-defying—the best facial money can buy!
